*When Vizila Ann Smith was born on March 3, 1850, in Jackson, Mississippi, her father, Stephen, was 47, and her mother, Mary, was 48. She married James Allen Ballentine on July 11, 1877. They had eight children in 31 years. She died on August 10, 1934, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
