James Allan Vowell (Jim), 63, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on February 4, 2021. He was born on April 9, 1957, to James Vowell and Nancy Brewer Vowell. He served for 20 years in the United States Army. He served in Germany, Korea, and the Middle East. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Operation Desert Storm. Upon retiring from the United States Army, he worked as an Information Technology Technician.
He was preceded in death by his father James Vowell, mother Nancy Vowell, and his sister Deborah McCurry. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Hye Suk Vowell (Kim); daughter, Karen; brother, Richard Vowell; brother, Donald and Sherry (Nixon) Vowell; uncle, W.O. and Ann Turner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
After retiring from the military, he and his family relocated to Conway, Arkansas to be near his father and mother. He lived out the remainder of his life in Arkansas. He was a dedicated soldier, an amazing husband and father, a good son, and a good brother. He will be missed by all of his family, friends, and those that knew him, and he will be forever loved.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 9, 2021, 4:00-8:00pm, with the family present 6:00-8:00pm, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 10:00am at the funeral home chapel with Brother Danny Fagala officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Wooster, Arkansas, with full military honors.
