June 23, 1935 - September 24, 2015
Steve Elzie Cooper, 80, passed away at home in Anchorage, Alaska, on Sept. 24, 2015. Steve was born in Leachville, Ark., on June 23, 1935. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1958. He was a self-employed General Contractor and the owner of Cooper Construction Company since 1955. Steve also owned the Carousel Lounge Bar in Spenard until 2004, and the Office Lounge from 1965-2004. He was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge in Anchorage, Alaska. Steve especially enjoyed time at the cabin in Big Lake, Alaska. A visitation will take place at noon on Oct. 2, 2015, at Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs, Ark. After the visitation, Steve will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hot Springs. Steve is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy M. Cooper; sons, Steve O. Cooper and Steven James Cooper; daughters, Darlene Cooper and Genny A. Lammers; brother, Willie Cooper; and sister, Betty Caroline Malott. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Opal Cooper; and brothers, David and Eldon Cooper. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Alaska and Gross Funeral Home in Arkansas.
