PEARCY -- Edward I. Kaufmann, age 84, of Pearcy, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1936, in Equality, Ill., the son of John Kaufmann and Anna McHenry Kaufmann. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Ted Kaufman, Charles Kaufman, Anne Vycital, Doris Schaefer and Kelly Kaufman.

Ed was a Christian and member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. He loved his God and country. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service. After his military career, he went into the insurance business and retired once again to concentrate on golf and spending time with his family. Ed had a quick wit and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Bradshaw Kaufmann; his children and their spouses, Lynne and Theron Summit, Vicky and Garry McCormick, and Scott and Becky Kaufmann; his grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Haylee Jones, Jennifer and Jordan Greer, and Matthew and Karisha Mowdy; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and good friends.


Graveside services for all of his family and friends will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Brother Mike Smith and Brother David Moore officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs. The directives for inside events will be in place including social distancing. All attendees 10 years old and over must wear a face covering and there can be no more than 50 persons in the chapel at any one time

Pallbearers will be Brian Jones, Parker Jones, Theron Summit, Jordan Greer, Jim Agee and Garrett Hartness.
