ROGERS — Dr. Jay Dee Roller, 85, of Rogers, Ark., and North English, Iowa, died on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011. Jay Dee Roller was born June 11, 1925, in Dauthart, Okla., the son of Alva and Mary Cook Roller.

As a young boy, J.D.'s parents moved to their native Arkansas and he spent his youth in the hills of Northwest Arkansas.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, spending most of his time in the South Pacific, on Iwo Jima. His family is very proud of his service to his country and that he received the Purple Heart medal.

He attended Lincoln School of Chiropractic in Indianapolis, Ind., becoming a doctor of chiropractic.

He married Claris Belle Sharp in 1952 and they soon settled in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to North English, Iowa, in 1954 where be practiced chiropractic. In his retirement years, "Doc" and Belle spent much of their time in Rogers, Ark.

He is survived by his children; Sharon (Gary) Kolosik of North English, Iowa; Elaine (Jim) Kanter of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and James (Leslie) Roller of Osceola, Ark., and his grandchildren, Aron (Ayla) Kolosik, Sarah (Roger) Brecht, Adam (fiancee-Kasie Ver Schuure) Kolosik, Dustin (Alicia) and Travis (Alyssa) Wildeboer, Bridget (Lowell) Anderson, and Micah, Alyssa and Mariah Rollar. He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Isaac and Luke Kolosik, Jessen, Tate and Charlie Brecht, Evan and Zoey Anderson. Also surviving are his sister, Peggy (Willis) Davidson; brothers, Clyde (Betty) and Don Roller, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. His parents preceded him in death, as did his sister, Neva Stanphill and his grandson, Seth William Kolosik.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Pastor Edwin Jordan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at the Powell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Benton County Funeral Home, Rogers, Ark. Burial with military rites will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Austin Cemetery near Best, Ark.
