BENTONVILLE — Clyde "Dick" Ells went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 9, 2014, at Legacy Village Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 89. He was born to Calvin Grover Ellis and Clarindia Rodgers on Nov. 24, 1924, of Best, Ark.

Dick retired after 20 years in the Army as a master sergeant. He worked at Daisy Manufacturing for 10 years until be fully retired to the family farm to enjoy his passions; taking care of his horses and working in his garden.

Dick spent most of his time looking after neighbor's cattle, building fence and any other neighborly kindness. He did not know how to sit still; Dick was always looking for something to do and he had a handshake that left a positive impression.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ellen Parsons-Ellis; two sons, Fred Ellis, Calvin Ellis; and three daughters, Elaine Ellis-Sanders, Tricia Ellis and Vicki Ellis-Haddock (Sid); eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Honorary family members, Dee, Dick, Sharon, Debbie, Sondra and Beverly.

Funeral services 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 North 4th, Rogers, with Pastor Johnny Harp officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Austin Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Circle of Life Hospice at 1201 NE Legacy Village Parkway, Bentonville, Ark.

Mary Ellen Ellis 90, of Cave Springs, Arkansas passed away August 4, 2019 at her home. She was born April 30, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma the daughter of Wheeler and Millie Owen Parsons. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1948-1951 earning the rank of Master Sergeant. She went on to raise her own 5 children and (several others). After 20 years of Army life, she and her husband retired to Arkansas and operated a poultry farm. She volunteered countless hours for many years as a cook in the weekly feeding ministry at her church. She was also a gifted Southern storyteller and a short order cook for anyone that graced her doors. Her laugh was infectious; heaven got a little bit sweeter and a whole lot louder upon her arrival.

She is preceded in death by her husband Clyde "Dick" Ellis, her parents, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her children Fred Ellis, Calvin Ellis, Elaine Sanders, Patricia Ellis, Vicki Haddock, and (honorary Dee Duke) her siblings Cecil Parsons, Rosa Moore and Bill Parsons, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday August 12, 2019 at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Street Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Austin Cemetery in Best, Arkansas; online condolences can be made at www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
