James Thomas Banks, Jr., age 70, of Damascus, Arkansas, passed away Monday, September 18, 2006, at Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton. Born in North Little Rock on February 28, 1936, he was the son of the late James T. Banks, Sr. and Mildred (Tucker) Banks.

Mr. Banks was a retired firefighter and had served as a Captain of the Little Rock Fire Department. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Banks was a hunter and fisherman. He was a Mason and a member of the Howard General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (King) Allen Banks of Damascus; three sons, James T. Banks, III of Calico Rock, John Wesley Banks of North Little Rock, and Doug Thomas Banks of Hot Springs; two stepsons, Kim Staggs of Hayti, Missouri, and Jeff James of Columbia, Missouri; two stepdaughters, Monna Kerr of Quitman, and Kelly Staggs of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; two brothers, Bobby Joe Banks of North Little Rock and Mickey Don Banks of East End; fourteen grandchildren, Courtney Michelle Cooper, Chandra Lea Banks, Alicia Ann Banks, James T. Banks, IV, Tina Marie Banks, Briahna Kerr, Noah Staggs, Kayla Staggs, Kelsey Staggs, Zack Staggs, Nathan Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Natalie Wilson, and Margaret Cathey; and one great grandchild, Bryson Cooper. Mr. Banks is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
