BELLA VISTA - Owen Robert Rader, 60, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2002, at his home. He was born in Sacramento, Calif., to Owen Carl and Inez Higgins Rader on Feb. 28, 1942.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and upon completion worked for the U.S. Forest Services in Bend, Oregon.
He then joined the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served 30 years in various foreign countries until he retired in July 1993.
He received numerous awards and accommodations during his tenure.
He was preceded in death by his father and younger brother, Rex, who was killed in Vietnam at age 19.
He is survived by his mother and his wife of 26 years, Patricia Gauthier Rader of Bella Vista, Ark.
He is also survived by seven children, one son, Owen Patrick Rader and his wife of Czech Republic; one daughter, Stephanie Chandra Rader Wood and her husband, Maya, of Charlottesville, Va.; three grandchildren, Meghan, Tyler, Bailey; daughter, Kim Marie Gregg and her husband, Perry, of Warrenton, Va.; daughter, Lyn Ann Gold and husband, David, of Baltimore, Md.; son, Chet Lawrence Gauthier and his wife, Judy, of Lexington, Ky.; three step grandchildren, Mark, Stephen, Philip; daughter, Pam May Utting, and her husband, Robert of Bella Vista, Ark.; three grandchildren, Justin Derek, Jesse; son, Bret Edward Gauthier of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Franklin Stanley Rader, and his wife, Ann, of Oregon; two nieces, Renea and Janet; one nephew Shane; numerous aunts, uncle, and cousins.
A memorial service will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at 6 p.m. in the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Dorothy Mortensen, #4 Kensington Lane, Bella Vista, Ark., 72714, or to the Bella Vista Ambulance Service, 101 Town Center, Bella Vista, Ark., 72714.
