Mrs. Bessie Holleman Gaughan, died Friday in her home, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Gaughan was the daughter of J. W. Holleman and Bettie Holleman. Her grandfather was Col. Tom D. Thomson, a Civil War veteran and political leader in Ouachita County. She was born in Camden on Sept. 21, 1891. She is survived by her husband, J. Emmet Gaughan; one son, Johnny Gaughan; two daughters, Bettie Lu Rogers of Camden and Emily Swift of Gadsden, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gaughan was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. Funeral arrangement included a rosary service at Proctor Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Mass will be said at St. Louis Catholic Church at 4 p.m. today, followed by interment in the Holleman lot in Greenwood Cemetery. (Camden News - May 25, 1974)
