*When Martha Elizabeth Minter Jones was born on January 30, 1800, in Edgefield, South Carolina, their father, Godfrey, was 35 and their mother, Anna, was 22. She married John Edwin Canfield on December 2, 1821, in her hometown. They had 12 children in 18 years. She died on August 29, 1887, in Center Hill, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 87 years, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
