*When William Thomas Dowdy was born on September 12, 1839, in Tipton, Tennessee, his father, Andrew, was 42 and his mother, Sarah, was 34. He was married three times and had three sons and two daughters. He died on October 17, 1930, in Clarksville, Arkansas, at the age of 91, and was buried in White, Arkansas.
