SPRINGDALE — George Earl Parrish died Aug. 22, 2008, after suffering from a fall four weeks ago. He was 101 years old. He was born May 26, 1907, in Black Oak to Daniel Chisholmberry Parrish and Mary Reed Parrish. He was a member of Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale, having served as a deacon and elder. Parrish married Lorraine Shipp in 1942. She preceded him in death in 2004 after 62 years of marriage.

He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served as a medic in the 335th infantry. He was awarded two Bronze Stars with oak leaf clusters and several other citations for bravery in Germany and Belgium.

He is survived by four daughters, Earlene Reeves of Prineville, Ore., Janice Lucas of Siloam Springs, Susan McLaughlin of Lake Saint Louis, Mo., and Darlene Harvey of Springdale; a foster daughter, Sandra Strode of Springdale; two brothers, Oran Parrish of Greenland, and Phillip Parrish of Coquille, Ore.; one sister, Blanche Allen of Silverton, Ore.; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Gary Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Brentwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

SPRINGDALE — Loraine S. Parrish, 79, of Springdale died Oct. 16, 2004, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1924, in St. Paul to Benjamin Harrison and Tennie Hoover Shipp. She was a member of Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale. She married George Earl Parrish on July 25, 1942.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years of the home; four daughters, Earlene Reeves and husband Mike of Coeur d'Alene, Ind., Janice Lucas and husband Steve of Siloam Springs, Susan McLaughlin and husband Gary of Proctorville, Ohio, Darlene Harvey and husband Doil of Springdale; one foster daughter, Sandra Strode and husband Kevin of Springdale; two brothers, John H. Shipp of Colcord, Okla., Robert E. Shipp of West Fork; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Robinson Avenue Church of Christ with Gary Frazier and Dean Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Brentwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sisco Chapel in Springdale. The family will be present from 6 to 7 p.m.
