July 4, 1865 - June 6, 1965
Sam Watson, 99, of 904 West 19th St. died early Sunday morning at his residence. Mr. Watson was born in Farmerville, La., July 4, 1865, and was the son of Buster and Sarah Jordon Watson. He was married to the former Sarah Poole. To this union 10 children were born. He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include: his widow, Mrs. Srah Poole Watson, El Dorado; four sons, Sam Watson, Jr and Garland Watson of El Dorado, Leroy Watson, San Jose, Calif.; and Shelton Watson, Palm Dale, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Donnie Massey, New York, N.Y. and Miss Pearl Watson, El Dorado; 26 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Morning Star Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. H. Rowe, pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church and Rev. Hugh Goodwin, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lot Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home Inc. (The El Dorado Times - June 10, 1965)
