October 3, 1881 - May 13, 1965
Mrs. Sallie Gafford, age 83, and a life long resident of El Dorado, died in her home, 1503 S. Jackson Ave., Thursday following a long illness. She was born in Union County, Arkansas, Oct. 3, 1881, the daughter of Rich and Josephine McCoy. Surviving are: her husband, Z. W. Gafford; one daughter, Miss Matilda Gafford; one son, Thomas Gafford, all of El Dorado; one sister, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Alexander, La., one granddaughter, and five greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. O. C. Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. The body will be placed in the church at noon. There will be no viewing after funeral time. (The El Dorado Times - May 15, 1965)
