March 22, 1946 - November 1, 2017
Ivory Lee Slaughter Famous, 70, of El Dorado, passed away on Nov. 1, 2017 at his home.
He was born in El Dorado on March 22, 1946 to Elizabeth Templeton and Armon Famous. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was a former employee of the Old Warner Brown Hospital and a member of Union Mission Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Helen Foster McGhee, Margaret Gordon, and Linda G. Williams Palmer.
He is survived by daughters, Teresa (A.J.) White, Nivea (Albert) Frazier, both of El Dorado; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Traylor of Camden; brothers, Ralph E. Williams of El Dorado and Bruce A. Famous of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Dorothy J. Davis of El Dorado, Mildred F. Williams of Stockton, California and DeLois Famous (Deryl), of Los Angeles, California; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon until 5 p.m. today at Sims Mortuary.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Union Mission Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Willis officiating. Interment will be at Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
