February 24, 1884 - June 10, 1969
Mrs. Alice Meeks died Tuesday in a local hospital following a short illness. She was born in Strong Feb. 24, 1884, the daughter of George and Nancy Meeks. She was a life long resident of Union County, and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She served as a deaconess and a member of Circle Number 2. She is survived by seven sons; George Richard, Teazer, and Worth Meeks, all of El Dorado, Johnny Meeks, Chaicago, Ill., Barney Meeks, Oakland, Calif., and Martin Van Meeks, Detroit, Mich; three daughters, Mrs. Florence L. Meeks, El Dorado Mrs. Gwendolyn Slade, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Maurice Neeley, San Diego, Calif.; 32 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; one step sister, Mrs. Ida Meeks, El Dorado; three step brothers, Luther Peterson, El Dorado, Julius Peterson, Memphis, Tenn., and Calvin Peterson, Little Rock. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. L. D. Champion officiating. Burial in the Lot Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
