Eldred Alan Baker, 72, of Fairbanks, Alaska, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at St. Michaels Hospital, Texarkana, Texas, of pulmonary fibrosis. Eldred was born April 6, 1939, at Romance, Arkansas, to the late Clifton and Telitha Stracener Baker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Merele Baker and by his son Terry Alan Baker.

He is survived by one daughter, Vanessa Mae Baker Hendrix of Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters, Wilma Jean Baker Harp of Judsonia, Arkansas and Virginia Leona Baker Robinson of Letona, Arkansas; three brothers, Delbert Lee Baker of Texarkana, Arkansas, Glen Eldon Baker of Ward, Arkansas, and Orville Wayne Baker of Heber Springs, Arkansas, as well as five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Eldred was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed outdoor activities with his family such as fishing and snow machining in the White Mountains of Alaska.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, in the Searcy-McEuen Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Quattlebaum Cemetery.
