She dies suddenly of a stroke thought to been caused by assisting in pushing a parked car from their driveway. They had just returned home from church.

Mrs. H.P. Shirley Dead
Mrs. Shirley, wife of professor H.P. Shirley of the agricultural college died Wednesday at 11 o'clock. She had been in poor health for several months, but most of the time she was up and going about the house. The casual observer did not see otherwise than that she enjoyed good health. In disposition and mundane? she was so cheerful so alright and vivacious full of good feeling ans lively interest in her family, her friends, and in all whom she knew, that one was led to misjudge her physical condition. She was far from being as well as she seemed. Some time ago, her little grandchild fell from the porch. The family thought the child was dead. This so affected Mrs. Shirley that she had to take to her bed and was seriously ill for some days. Some insidious disease had apparently undermined her nervous system and impaired the action of her heart. Wednesday, to the surprise of all, she suddenly fell ill, the heart failed to act and her pure and noble spirit was quickly released. The body will be taken to Paris for internment where funeral services will be had from the Methodist church of which denomination she was a honored and faithful member. A wide circle of friends, among them the editor of the Record, feel bereaved in the death of this good woman. We have no word that will help Mr. Shirley and children to bear the unspeakable loss to their heart and home. The Russelville Record (reprinted in the Paris Express)
