SPRINGDALE — James Carrel Clardy, age 82, of Springdale, passed away at home on April 20, 2020, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 28, 1938, to James Andrew and Flossie Mae Nida Clardy.

Many of his friends knew him as "Pat," a nickname given to him by a neighbor lady on Short "C" Street in Rogers, Ark., where he was born.

He graduated from Rogers High School in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1958, he married Neva Gaylene Smith of the Silent Grove Community in Springdale.

Jim's career was in appliance repair. After having worked for Watson's in Springdale and for Sears Roebuck, he started Clardy's Appliance Service in 1983. He had a keen mechanical mind and repaired thousands of appliances for customers, friends and families across Northwest Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Gaylene of Springdale; daughter, Kelli Maestri and husband Kevin of Springdale and their children, Hogan, Lola and Stella Maestri; son, Blake and wife Renee and their sons, Jameson and Conor Clardy; brother, Jack Clardy and his wife Marge of Bentonville; and brother Sam Clardy and wife Lisa of Lowell.

A private graveside service was held on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Silent Grove Cemetery, for which Jim was the caretaker for many years. The family is contemplating a Celebration of Life at a later date. Funeral arrangements were made by Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale.

The family would like to thank the kind people at Highlands Oncology and Washington Regional Medical Center for his treatment and at Circle of Life Hospice for their assistance and compassion in providing care and comfort for Jim in his final days at home.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice or Silent Grove Cemetery at www.silentgrovecemetery.com.

Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
