Helen Louise Sparks, 86, of Romance, AR passed away June 30, 2020. She was born February 17, 1934 to Alvie and Lizzie (Oliver) Harper.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother; Harvey Harper, an infant son, infant granddaughter, and a great-grandson, ex-husband, and father of her children; Fred Sparks; two son in-laws, Tom Atkin, and Clay Vanoven; and one daughter in-law, Judy Sparks


Left to love and cherish her memories are her eight children; Helen Vanoven of Rose Bud, AR, Louise (Larry) King of Conway, AR, Linda Atkin of Romance, AR, Freddie (Teresa) Sparks of Floyd, AR, T.A. Sparks of Romance, AR, Wilma (Keith) Upchurch of Emory, TX, Janet Sparks of Romance, AR and Tommie (Connie) Sparks of Conway, AR. She also helped to raise four nephews whom she loved and called her children: Michael Daily of MS, John Sparks of AR, Bill Sparks of MO, and Kenny Sparks (deceased) of AR. Helen had fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren, and five step grandchildren with many other family and friends, one special lady, Doris McCutchen, whom she considered as a sister.

Helen was a member of Free Will Baptist Church. She genuinely enjoyed her church, gardening, canning, watching westerns, crocheting, trips to Branson, MO and helping and doing for others. She was a giver who gave and gave. Helen retired from Byrd Haven Nursing Home in Searcy, AR after twenty-seven years of service.
