Lourie (Ned) Terrell, 55, long-time employe of Murphy Oil Corporation, died Friday following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Dessie M. Beasley Terrell, a foster son George D. Jones and granddaughter Georgette Jones, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister Mrs. Virgie Loggins, El Dorado; two brothers, O. B. Terrell of Long Beach, Calif. and O. G. Terell of Chicago, Ill.; seven half-brothers, Robert Terrell, Jr., Los Angeles, Calif., Tommy Norton, Chicago, Ill., Lorenz Norton, Milwaukee, Wisc., Albert Norton, Detroit, Mich.; Leon Terrell and Prentiss Terrell, Saginaw, Mich., and Willie Terrell of El Dorado. He was born Oct. 15, 1914 near Junction City, La., in Claiborne Parish, the son of Robert and Carice Terrell. He attended school at Caldonia. He was employed by Hollingsworth Feed Store from 1945 to 1954, at which time he became associated with Murphy Oil Corporation. He was a deacon in the Douglas Chapel Baptist Church where he was treasurer and superintendent of the Sunday school. He was a member of El Dorado Masonic Lodge 151. While with Murphy Oil, he served as chauffeur and in that capacity drove many distinguished visitors while they were in El Dorado. In addition to these duties, he worked in the reproduction section. Active pallbearers will be Curtis O'Quinn, P. J. Bryant, John Moore, Aaron Rodgers, K. C. Ford, and L. C. Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Douglas Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Andrews Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times - February 24, 1970)
