Dorothy “Sweet Thang” Jean Brown Malcom, 80, returned to her heavenly home on June 20, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.


Dorothy was born to the late Fate Brown and Marcella Goodwin Hollis in El Dorado, AR on September 15, 1936. She was raised by her grandparents Oliver and Velma Goodwin. She joined New Bethel Baptist Church at an early age where she was and Usher until her health would no longer let her do so. She was a member of the El Dorado Searchers for a number of years and enjoyed attending each event. She worked faithfully for the Union County Courthouse and Mayor Mike Dumas at his home for many years until retiring.


Preceding her in death her mother, father grandparents; and two sons Oliver Joe Smith and Jonathan Lovett.


She leaves to cherish her memories Tom Lovett (Joyce), Clifton Lovett (Inez), Jake Boone III (Christina) Irisha Aaron (Nathaniel), Francine Williams, and Jacqueline Boone Holmes. She has twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren.


Public visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2017 from 12 noon - 6 pm at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at New Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Patterson, eulogist. Interment will be at Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary.
