Sister Lilla Ruth Moore Edmondson "Lillie Ruth" of Lancaster, California began her Earthly Journey on Thursday, November 21, 1957 around 6:00 p.m. in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was the third child born to John Fermon and Alfriza Matthews Moore.

At an early age, Lillie Ruth united with First Baptist Church in El Dorado, Arkansas. Most recently she united with the Wayside Christian Church in Lancaster, California where she was a member of the church choir and Women's Ministry. She was a volunteer for Jackie Robinson Park in Sun Village, California and assisted wherever she was needed. She had a passion for cooking, making people feel at home and most of all making people laugh.

Lillie Ruth attended Watson Elementary School and Rogers Jr. High School. She was the first African American Cheerleader at Rogers Jr. High School. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1975. She attended a Culinary Arts School for Restaurant Management in Belleville, Illinois. She later received her Associate of Arts Degree in Letter, Arts & Science from Antelope Valley College in 2002.

Lillie Ruth was employed in various positions. She was a former employee of Massey's Pit Barbecue Drive Inn, Fairview Head Start Program and Murphy Oil Corporation in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was employed at Shoney;s Restaurant n Venice, Illinois. She was also employed at the Rite Aide Warehouse in Lancaster, California. Most recently she was employed as an In-Home Care Provider until her health began to fail.

Lillie loved to entertain and to be entertained. She loved life and she shared her life with her family and many friends. She loved her family and she enjoyed preparing good food for family and friends.

Our precious Lillie began her Heavenly Journey on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 12:36 p.m. at Antelope Valley Hospital Medicatl Center in Lancaster, California.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Fermon Moore, Sr., her baby sister, Anita Moore and her second sister, Rose Mary Moore, her paternal grandparents, John and Rosie Lee Mack and her maternal grandparents, Jeff and Savannah Matthews.

Lille Ruth leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, LaTara J. Edmondson, three sons Victor Joseph Fermon Napoleon, Justin Jamel Crossley and Jamonte Travon Moore all of Lancaster, California; four grandchildren, Tre'Ajani, Tiara, Anaya and Lamontrey. Her mother, Alfriza Moore of El Dorado, Arkansas; her sister, Melwyn J. Johnson-Primus(Moses) of Lancaster, California and her brother John F. Moore, Jr. of Long Beach, California. Her aunts and uncles, Juanita Matthews, Elsie M. Robinson, Margie A. Plummer, Jeff Matthews, Jr. , Gene A. Matthews and Evelyn J. Christopher(Gregory); her nephews and nieces, Gerrard, Tamara, Freida(Robert), Jamareal and Meshayle(Jason). She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, many cousins, extended family and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration for Lillie Ruth will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m at First Baptist Church-Cordell, El Dorado, Arkansas with the Rev. Pierce Moore officiating.

Interment will follow in the Lott Burgy Cemetery, El Dorado, Arkansas under the direction of the Sims Mortuary Staff.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday, May 24, 2010 from 9:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 25 from 8:30 to 9:30p.m.
