James Brashears, 70, died Wednesday in a local hospital. Born June 1, 1897, in Liberty, Miss., he was the son of Jimmy and Armenda Brashears. He was a member of the Douglas Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Artie Mae Brashears; four brothers, Timothy Brashears of Liberty, Miss., Enoch Brashears and Willie Brashears of Jackson, Miss. and Lucious Brashears of New Orleans, La.; and two sisters, Mrs. Corine Johnson, New Orleans, La. and Mrs. Minnie Simmons, Liberty, Miss. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. J. I. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times - February 9, 1968)
