October 10, 1944 - November 4, 1965
Uless "Buddie" Hawthorne, Jr., age 21 of 809 Norsworthy died Thursday in an automobile accident. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, Oct 10, 1944, the son of Uless and Flossie Hawthorne, Sr. He was a graduate of Washington High School, attended AM&N College, Pine Bluff, for two years, and a graduate of Northwest Trade School, Los Angeles, Calif; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lou Hawthorne, Pomona, Calif. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Saint James Baptist Church, Hillbsoro Street, with Rev. J. H. Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in Lott Burgy Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. The body will be placed in the church at noon. There will be no viewing after funeral time. Surviving are his father and mother; one sister, Mrs. Sammye Jo Robertson all of the city; one brother, L. B. Hawthorne of Los Angeles, California; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lou Hawthorne, Pamona, Calif. (The El Dorado Times - November 8, 1965)
