*When William Riley Gay was born on March 17, 1870, in McAlister, Kentucky, his father, William, was 24 and his mother, Louisa, was 27. He married Grace Irene Askey on August 20, 1898, in Livingston, Montana. He then married Catherine Mae Gilliam and they had one son together. He died on October 27, 1962, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 92, and was buried there.
