Syletta Ratliff was born into this life on July 1, 1938, in Hayesville, Louisiana to Willie Stovall and Samelia James. She was a former member of Morning Star Baptist Church #2.

She taught communications at the University of Michigan. She later united with Kings HighwayBaptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas..
Syletta peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sieluna Ratliff; and two sisters, Nettie James and Birda Mae Reedy.

Although her physical presence is no longer here; her memory will live in the hearts of her children: Beverly Wilson of Stone Mountain, GA, Marcus Ratliff of Stone Mountain, GA and James Ratliff of El Dorado, AR; sisters, Maggie Bland of Seattle, WA, Bee James of El Dorado, AR and Sammie Harrison of El Dorado, AR; and a brother, Charles James of Seattle, WA. She also leaves a other children; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A service of celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. On Tuesday, February 7,2017 at MorningStar Baptist Church#2 with Rev. Felton Burgie, officiating. Interment will be in Lott Burgie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00p.m until 5:00p.m on Monday, February 6,2017
