*When Nelson Lapsley Black was born on February 22, 1812, in North Carolina, his father, James, was 20 and his mother, Sarah, was 25. He married Sarah Bell Lawson on December 6, 1839, in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. They had six children in 13 years. He died on September 9, 1895, in Center Hill, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 83 years, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
