*When Asa Thomas Mardis was born on March 7, 1872, in Alabama, his father, Carroll, was 32 and his mother, Ann, was 26. He married Alice Quattlebaum on July 4, 1895. They had six children in 13 years. He died on March 29, 1948, in White, Arkansas, at the age of 76, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
