October 12, 1886 - October 6, 1965
Edward Baker, 78, of 906 S. Jackson, died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday in Union Memorial Hospital. Born in Union County, N. C., on October 12, 1886, he was the son of William James and Mary Ann Hinson Baker. He had spent most of his life in the El Dorado area, where he was a retired blacksmith, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Southside Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a past master of the Big Rock Masonic Lodge in North Little Rock, a member of the Eastern Star and a past patron of Jewell Chapter No. 362. Survivors include a brother, Sam Baker of El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. A. C. Lowery and Mrs. R. M. Foster, both of North Little Rock, and Mrs. Mrs. Lena Evans of El Dorado, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. H. M. McManus officiating. Burial will be in Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Lodge No. 13 F&AM. The family will be at 906 S. Jackson. Active pallbearers will be Bill Brown, E. T. Harris, C. L. Church, G. S. Harris, T. C. Tolbert, and Clifton Cates. Honorary ones will be members of the Men's Bible Class of the Southside Baptist Church. (The El Dorado Times - October 6, 1965)
