James W. “P.J.” Greer, 83, of Smackover, AR; died on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Life Touch’s John R. Williamson Hospice House. Born on March 29, 1934 in Union County; he was the son of James Harvey Greer and Berdie Lee Halbrook Greer. P.J. worked as welder/foreman for El Do Craft Boats for 27 years and was owner of South Ark Sports in Smackover. He loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, gardening along with football and horse racing. P.J. was a loving husband, father and grandfather. P.J. was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Edward Greer, a daughter, Wanda June Smith and a sister, Martha Greer Hansen. Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Shirley Watson Greer; daughters, Sharon Shoalmire ( Lee ) of Antlers, OK and Donna Taylor of Victoria TX; step-sons, Clay Williams (Cindy) of Smackover, AR, and Johnny Williams of Smackover; a brother, Johnny Greer of Russellville, AR; sister, Dorothy Evans of El Dorado; along with 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at First Christian Church of El Dorado with Rev. Gary Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 night at the funeral home. The family is also at the Greer residence. Memorials may be made to Lifetouch Hospice, 2301 Champagnolle Rd, El Dorado, AR 71730. An online registry is available at www.youngsfuneralhome.com.
