of Claremore, OK

April 29, 1929 - November 6, 2010

Wanda Louise Light Phillips, 81, formerly of Searcy went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 6th, 2010. She was born Monday, April 29th, 1929 to the late Luther Cecil Heggie and Julia Etta Martindale Heggie.

Wanda moved from Searcy to Claremore, Oklahoma in1996 to be near her family. She battled cancer for six years with great courage. "Aunt Wanda" was admired and adored by her loved ones and her many friends. She made lasting friendships, mentored many, and inspired all who knew her. Her style, her wit, her warmth, her words, will be greatly missed by all.

Wanda was self-educated throughout her entire life with a God-given wisdom that blessed many lives. She was an exemplary employee of Vicker Corporation, which is now called the Eaton Corporation.

Outside of her family and employer, Wanda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for more than twenty-five years serving as the Chaplain for the Auxiliary. In addition, she was a member of the Honey Hill Christian Union Church in Searcy.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ernest D. Light and Everett Phillips; two sisters, Doris Heggie and Leatrice Heggie Gipson; a brother, Huston O. Heggie; and other relatives very dear to her.

She is survived by a step-son, Joe Phillips; a granddaughter, Carol Beth Phillips Scott, her husband, David, and their children; nieces, Julie Gipson Burchfield and Dolores Heggie Janosky; nephew, Woodson Gipson; beloved great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family relationships through marriage, and treasured friendships.

Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 at the Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 10th, in the Chapel of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with interment following at the Honey Hill Cemetery on Honey Hill Road in Searcy. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Wanda's two favorite charities, St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee @ www.stjude.org or Honey Hill Christian Union Church, Honey Hill Road, Searcy, Arkansas.
