Arkansas

April 3, 1957 - April 25, 2016

Catherine Burley Fincher was made well and called home to Jesus on April 25, 2016 after a hard fought battle with cancer, at the age of 59. She is preceded in death by her father William Clinton Burley, brother Billy Ed Burley, and survived by her mother Betty Rhyan of West Monroe, sister Cindy Barnica married to Lynn Barnica of Winslow, AR, husband of 35 years, Dr. Richard Wilson Fincher, daughter Elizabeth Martinez married to Jason Martinez of Shreveport, grandson Zachary Martinez, daughter Laura Rodgers married to Nat Rodgers of Joaquin, TX, granddaughter Abigail Briggs, grandson Wilson Rodgers, and son Pvt. Samuel Burley Fincher, USMC.

Cathie was the loving matriarch of our family, and the consummate servant to Jesus. She ministered to so many through Cursillo, Kairos prison ministry, Episcopal Church Women, Daughters of the King, and daily encounters with people. A special thanks to Baylor Medial Center oncology physicians and nurses for the outstanding care Cathie received. She adopted every nurse on the 6th floor and helped them make wedding and baby shower plans during her last lengthy stay there. Special thanks also to St Francis Medical Center physicians and nurses who cared for Cathie between courses of chemotherapy. If the heavenly praise band doesn't have a second alto upright bass player guitarist, well, they have one now.

Cathie's memorial service will be at St Thomas Episcopal Church in Monroe on Sunday May 1st at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society or to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Monroe, LA in Cathie's name.
