Colleen Rainwater, age 82, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 1, 2018. She was born September 26, 1936 to Z.A. Carstairs.
Colleen worked at the El Dorado Coffee Company and Gibson’s, but was a housewife for a majority of her life and took much joy in seeing happiness in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She babysat many children throughout her years and has left a legacy that will live on through her love for them. Colleen was always up for an adventure whether that meant taking her grandchildren to the fair and riding every ride with them or riding in a jet boat or her granddaughter’s race car. Her family’s fondest memories include time spent with her in the kitchen preparing special meals or decorating for elaborate Halloween or Christmas festivities. One of her favorite past times was bream fishing with her son, Phillip.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband, Jerry Rainwater, Sr., a brother, Dwight Alden Partin, Jr., a son, Phillip Rainwater, Sr., and infant great-granddaughter, Payton King.
Left to treasure her memory are her children, Jerry Rainwater, Jr. and wife, Karin, George Rainwater and wife, Yvonne, Todd Rainwater and wife, Cindi, and Cheryl Moore, grandchildren Mindy King, Heather Tumey, Phillip Rainwater, Jr., Megan Rainwater, Joshua Rainwater, Serena Lemley, Briana Moore, and Benjamin Moore, 14 great grandchildren, and special lifelong friend Mott Sellers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Perry’s Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Parker’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family will receive friends at 1105 W. 6th Street.
