*When Hugh Lawson Carter was born on December 8, 1876, in Valley, Mississippi, his father, Foster, was 31 and his mother, Sarah, was 26. He married Mary Bell Holleman on September 25, 1898. They had nine children in 20 years. He died on April 14, 1942, in Rose Bud, Arkansas, at the age of 65, and was buried in Joy, Arkansas.
When Mary Bell Holleman was born on June 21, 1872, in Rose Bud, Arkansas, her father, Andrew, was 18, and her mother, Cassie, was 15. She married Hugh Lawson Carter on September 25, 1898. They had nine children in 20 years. She died on March 7, 1966, in White, Arkansas, at the age of 93, and was buried in Joy, Arkansas.
