Henry Whitt Barber Jr, 78, of Bald Knob, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Searcy. Mr. Barber was born June 24, 1932 in Grady, Arkansas a son of the late Laurater Warren Harris and Henry W. Barber, Sr. He worked as a highway construction and a skilled labor worker for over 60 years. Henry was a civic minded man and was a very dedicated community servant. He mowed the Union Grove Cemetery and enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing dominoes. His strong community leadership was evident, as he would do anything for anybody if he was able.

Mr. Barber was married three times; first to Leota Shields. To this union was born 2 children. His second marriage was to Barbara R. Clark. To this union was born 5 children and he was married last to Dorothy Kelley of Stuttgart, Arkansas.

He is survived by his children, Johnnie L. Barber, Charles Barber (Monica), Scotty Parker (Marie), Juanita Johnson (Van), Gladys Reynolds, Karen Henderson, Sharon Murray, Shameka Jennings and Vickie Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ruth Barber and his brother Andrew Welch and by his children, Henry L. Barber, Jr., Patrick Clark and Charlotte Barber. He leaves a legacy of 12 children, 27 grand children, 32 great grand children and 2 great great grand children. He also leaves one sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Haynes an uncle, Herbert Manuel (Bernice) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bald Knob. Interment will be in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at Powell Funeral
