James A. Patterson, 98, of Bald Knob, passed from this life May 2, 2015 at his residence. He was born March 27, 1917 in Beedeville, Arkansas to the late Early and Hattie Sherman Patterson.
Mr. Patterson, known by his friends as “Pappy”, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, later in life he was employed by the Arkansas Highway Department. After retirement, he volunteered at the White River Agency on Aging and was the groundskeeper for Union Grove Cemetery. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Taylor Patterson; one daughter, Yvonne Johnson; one son, James Brown Jr.; and nine siblings.
His legacy will live on with four children, son, Early Patterson (Sharline) of Bald Knob; daughters, Yvonne Taylor (Bobby) of Bald Knob, Annie Patterson, of Searcy, and Martha Patterson of Bald Knob; 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday May 8, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bald Knob. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday also at the church with burial following at Union Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Care of Kensett.
