Wilton "Dean" Poole, 72, was born in White County, Arkansas, to Wilton and Mattie (Hall) Poole on October 2, 1939.
He passed from this life on June 12, 2012.
Dean was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a conservative Democrat in his beliefs. He served as an elder in the Church of Christ for over 20 years. He was a farmer, and owned Poole's Styling Center and was a well known barber for 45 years. He served in the Searcy Unit of the Arkansas National Guard. Dean rooted for the Razorback basketball, football and baseball teams. The Dallas Cowboys was a favorite; and had picked the Oklahoma City Thunder to win this year's NBA title. He was also a fan of the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics. He enjoyed watching golf and his favorites were Bubba and Tiger. Dean enjoyed talking to people anywhere he went and he always would ask them "Where are you from?" In his younger years, Dean was a deer hunter, coon hunter, and liked fishing float trips down the Little Red River.
Dean is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Leona Lodeen (Townsend/Farley) Poole, two daughters, Deana (Rick) Smith of Pangburn, Susan Roller of Searcy, one son, Randy (Peggy) Poole, of Searcy, Arkansas and five grand-children, Will Smith of Pangburn, Shelly (Chuck) Matthew of Searcy, B.J. Roller of Searcy, and Jonathan and Caleb Poole of Searcy.
He also is survived by his sisters, Jackie Pratt of Searcy, twin sister Jean of Warren, Arkansas, Julia (Jim) Smith of Searcy, Arkansas and brother, Harvey (Ruth) Poole of Pangburn, and numerous nieces- and nephews-in-laws and best friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Barney Roller.
Interment was in Taylor Cemetery, in Searcy, AR. Arrangments were by Powell Fuenral Home.
