He died on November 24, 1988, in Judsonia, Arkansas, at the age of 72, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
When Ona Mae Popham was born on November 2, 1925, in Bexar, Texas, her father, James, was 38, and her mother, Beulah, was 34. She was married five times. She died on January 5, 1998, in Arkansas at the age of 72, and was buried in Searcy, Arkansas.
