John H. Baker, age 79, of Plainview, AR died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born April 28, 1924 in Ola, AR to the late Author L. and Nettie M. Carrie Baker. He was an Army Veteran and he retired as refrigeration maintenance from Tyson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie J. Baker; one brother, Ed Baker and a stepson Bobby Harvell.

He is survived by five sons, Kenneth Baker of Tulsa, OK, Johnny Baker of Dover, AR, David Baker of Michigan, Eddie Baker and Carl Baker both of Arkansas; two daughters, Lavon Lievsay of Paris, AR and Shirley McClain of Missouri; one step-son, Gary Harvell of Greenwood, AR; three brothers, Victor and Paul Baker both of Plainview, AR and Kenneth Baker of Tulsa, OK; four sisters, Lois Stapleton of California, Frankie Schmit of Plainview, AR, Bonnie Berry of Dardanelle, AR and Mae Rue Harkie of Dardanelle, AR; 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral service was June 27, 2003 at the Delaware First Baptist Church with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating. Interment was in McVay Cemetery near Paris by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Pallbearers were Preston, Justin, Jason and Billy Baker and Bobby and Johnnie Livesay.
