FAYETTEVILLE — Lloyd Lee Chambers, a Northwest Arkansas resident for 46 years, rode off into his last sunset on June 23, 2020, at age 80.

Self-described as "an old mossback," he was born at home and grew up in Glen Roy, Ohio, to a family established in the area since pioneer times. Lloyd spent his youth pursuing higher education and teaching with a literary focus, attaining a Master's in English. He attended Wilmington College in Ohio, taught in Memphis, Tenn., Hardin-Simmons in Abilene, Texas, University of Texas at Austin, and he was a professor of English at the University of Arkansas, where his name can be found written in the sidewalk.

Lloyd met his future wife and mother of his children, Lynn, in Austin, Texas, later fell in love with the Ozarks, which reminded him of Appalachian Ohio, and here he started a family in the country.

He was easygoing, humble, imaginative, quick-witted, and a great listener. He was always willing to lend a hand, loved to laugh and always found a way to be positive. He loved being outdoors. He had a love for horses, hill culture, and reflected fondly on his cowboy days. He was truly a singular man, making an impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded by father Carl; mother Dorothy; sisters Gladys, Doris and Esther, and is survived by sister Jean of Dayton, Ohio; sons Logan Chambers of Farmington, Ark., and Lathan Chambers of Little Elm, Texas; and grandchildren Bryson, Jocelyn, and Cadence Chambers of Farmington, Ark.

Lloyd is resting eternally in Brentwood Cemetery.
