Wythe Alvin Hughes, 86, of Whitehouse community, died Tuesday at a Fayetteville hospital. Born April 6, 1894 at Brentwood, he was the son of John and Frances Hutchens Hughes. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Bell Watkins Hughes of the home; five sons, Oscar, Charles and Ray, all of Winslow, Ted of Fayetteville and Homer of Pensacola, Fla., four brothers, Raymond, Oral and Arlan of Winslow, and Delford Hughes of West Fork; one sister, Mrs. Hanle Eskridge of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brentwood Community Church with burial in Brentwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore's Chapel.

Mrs. Mary Bell Hughes, 83, of Winslow, died Friday in a Fayetteville nursing home. Born Sept. 1, 1899, at Brentwood, the daughter of Jim and Nancy Smithwick Watkins, she was the widow of Wythe A. Hughes, who died in 1981, a homemaker, a member of the church of Christ and a lifetime resident of the area.

Survivors are five sons, Oscar, Charles and Ray, all of Winslow, Ted of Fayetteville and Homer of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Grace Robertson of Fayetteville, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brentwood Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.

Mrs. Mary Bell Hughes, 83, who died Friday in a Fayetteville nursing home, was incorrectly identified in Saturday's Times as a resident of Winslow. She lived at Route 7 Fayetteville, in the Whitehouse community.
