Raymond Silas Hughes, 81, of Winslow, died Wednesday, July 16, 1986, at a Fayetteville hospital. Born July 18, 1904, at Brentwood, the son of John Willington and Frances Magdeline Hutchens Hughes, he was a postmaster for Wyola and a farmer. He was a member of the church of Christ and a lifelong area resident.
Survivors are his wife, Violet Ruth Hughes of the home; two sons, Garland W. Hughes of Rogers and J.C. Hughes of Winslow; a daughter, Lois Combs of Fayetteville; three brothers, Oral Hughes of Winslow, Dilford Hughes of West Fork and Arlin Hughes of Fayetteville; a sister, Hallie Eskridge of Fayetteville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Nelson's Funeral Home chapel with burial in Brentwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Brentwood Cemetery Fund.

Springdale — Violet Ruth Ramey Hughes, 81, of Winslow, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1989, in a Fayetteville hospital. Born Feb. 23, 1908, at Winslow, the daughter of Charlie and Macy Caroline Hutchens Ramey, she was a homemaker and a member of Winslow Church of Christ.
Survivors are two sons, Garland Hughes of Oklahoma City, Okla., and James C. Hughes of Winslow; a daughter, Lois Combs of Fayetteville, two brothers, Raymond Ramey of Oakdale, Calif., and Gordon Ramey of Fayetteville; a sister, Mary Jane Hopson of Lexington, Okla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending under the direction of Nelson's Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Southern Christian Orphan Home, Morrilton.
