CAVE SPRINGS — Larry Roy Markum, 62, of Cave Springs moved his permanent residence to heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008.

Larry Markum loved God first, whom he served faithfully and fervently since Oct. 10, 1956. He is survived by Sherrie Markum, whom he faithfully loved for 37 years; his children, Aaron and Kristi Markum, Amy Markum, Jeremy and Mandy Thompson; two beautiful granddaughters, Keshia and Myra Markum; his brothers and sisters, Jessie Edward (J.E.) Markum, Eugene Markum, Laverne Osborne, Carol Lee (Lee) Markum, Gary Troy Markum, Donnie Markum, Gayle Hughes, Virgie Thompson and Dewayne Lawson. He has reunited with his father and mother, Jesse Markum, Buna Markum and Alice Markum, who raised him selflessly as though he were her own; his sister, Helen Moore and brother, Lee Curtis Markum.

He passionately preached with lots of fire, energy and excitement, winning people to Jesus in Africa, Haiti, the Philippines, Honduras, Pakistan and down the street from where he lived. His life work was building churches.

He loved to fish, where he put so many poles in the lake he offered a buffet to any fish that may eventually swim by. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle to the post office on pretty days, singing and dancing to the Cathedrals' music and Evangelistic International Ministries, where he served faithfully for the past four years.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 13 at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 1410 Porter Road, Fayetteville, 72703.

A celebration of his life with his family and friends will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, online at www.funeral.com. Burial will follow in Brentwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Evangelistic International Ministries, P.O. Box 297, Magnolia, 71754.
