William Arthur "Buck"
PRIVATE US Army
World War I
February 4, 1895 - March 6, 1983

Buck Avance was born William Arthur Avance on February 4 1895 in Logan County Arkansas the third and last child of John Isaac Avance and Mary Louella Fite. While the exact location of his birth is unknown (by me) a good candidate for that location would be near the Avance farm in Caulksville just a few miles west of the county seat in Paris. On March 16 1920 Buck married Ombra Beatrice Ivy and with the birth of their first child Robert Lee the two of them began a family. In the first twenty years of their 42-year marriage Ombra would give birth to a total of twelve children. Ombra would pass away in 1962 and Buck would stay a widower for the next twenty-one years of his life, Buck died March 6, 1983 at the age of 88 years and 30 days.

Over the course of his life Buck was a farmer, a coal miner, a solder(world war 1) and a carpenter for the navy(WWII) but mostly he was a husband and a father. preceding Buck in death was his wife of 42 years Ombra Beatrice Ivy Avance and 4 sons, Robert Lee, Ralph Gerald, James Charles(JC) and Vernon Ray. Surviving him 5 daughters B Harvell, Kathryn McDonald, Jonnie Lou Black, Sharlene Freeman & Mildred Hixson 7 3 sons William (JR), Donald Leon and Tom Buck Avance.

At the time of his death in 1983 Buck left behind over 75 living descendents today in 2013 there are over twice that number.
