Alan Scott Brimer, age 66 of Booneville, Arkansas, died Monday, March 19, 2018 in Fort Smith. He was born on August 2, 1951 in McPherson, Kansas to the late Isaac Eldon Brimer and the former Ruby Lambert. Scott spent his early years at the Conway Human Development Center. In 1979 he moved to his permanent home, the Booneville Human Development Center. Scott was baptized into the Catholic Church. He had a sweet spirit about him, and made friends easily. Scott treasured his family and set examples for them of joy and unconditional love.
Scott is survived by his sister, Rita Edwards and her husband, Keenan, of Malvern; two sisters, Carroll Gilliam of Hot Springs, and Melissa Ward and her husband, Darrell of Little Rock; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who he loved dearly; and an aunt Norma Faye Cavanaugh of Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by his mother, Ruby L. Gilliam, step-father, William C. "Bill" Gilliam, and siblings, Isabel Gilliam, and Matthew Gilliam.
Visitation will be on Wednesday evening, March 21, 2018 from six until seven o'clock, in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home followed by a Rosary Service beginning at seven.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday morning at ten o'clock at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern with Father Phillip Reaves as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Tranquil Cemetery in Hot Springs.
Pallbearers will be: Nathan Welch, Ted Gilliam, Kenny Scott, Damon Edwards, Darius Hill, and Dennis Morris.
Memorials are requested to Friends and Family of Care Facility Residents, in care of Alan Fortney, FF/CFR Treasurer, 37 Yazoo Circle, Maumelle, AR 72113.
