*Obituary for Richard Carter Earls
Richard Carter Earls was born August 15, 1931 in Paris, AR and died July 30, 2009 in the Hospital at Clarksville, AR., following a short illness. He was a 1949 graduate of Paris High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and spent his training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He was sent to Germany for peacekeeping duty after the war ended. After his return home following his release from service, he tried operating a gas service station in Paris for a short time. He left Paris to live and work in Tulsa, OK. and in California for many years before returning to Paris in 1982.

He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors; he was also a mechanic, the trade the learned in the air force. He served as a post commander for the VFW Post 3431 and as chaplain of the DAV 39, member of the American legion post 121 of Paris. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Paris.
He was preceded in death by his parents James H. and Wanda F. (Carter) Earls, infant daughter Anna Jane Earls and his wife of 36 years Virginia and step-grandson David Willingham, brother in law, Frank J. Kuchar of Florissant, MO.

He is survived by two sons, James Richard Earls of Hawaii and Mark Jason Earls of Murfreesboro, TN, one grandson Travis Lee Earls and two granddaughters Korissa Earls and Kaylee Earls, three sisters, Jimmie Lou Kuchar of Florissant Mo., Hilda Colette Cole and Husband Jerry of Austin, TX. and Wanda Jo. Burtch and husband Greg of Cypress, CA. He was stepfather to Paula Ruscher and her companion, Art Kirk of Magazine, AR., George and Glenn Ruscher of Subiaco, AR. Roger and Russell Ruscher of California. He was an uncle to five nieces and two nephews and step uncle to several nieces and nephews, great uncle and great-great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel by Larry Bean, minister of Church of Christ in Paris, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, Arkansas, under the direction of Roller Funeral Home-Paris.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Frederick, Michael Shelton, Jack Faulkner, Thomas James, Mike Wallsmith, and Carl Waters.

Honorary Pallbearers are Fellow Members of DAV Chapter 39, VFW Post 3431, and American Legion post 121
