Nathan Denver Merritt, 94 of Paris Arkansas died 8-21-07. He was born September 25, 1912 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to his parents, Henry C. and Nora (Robinson) Merritt. He retired from John Deere in 1976 after 40 years of service and the majority of those years was owner of the Farmers Implement Company in Paris.
A Veteran of World War II serving in the 751st Engineering Parts Supply Depot as Tech Sgt. in the U.S. Army in the European Theater, member of the American Legion serving every district and state office (except Commander) and the only person elected two times as State Commander; member of DAV and VFW holding various positions for many years. Member of Paris Chamber of Commerce and received the "Go-Getter Award in 1968". He served as past president of Paris Rotary Club. He was on the Paris Planning Commission, Logan County Fair Committee, the recipient of the Golden Harvest Award in 2001, and member of the First Baptist Church-Paris.
Preceding him in death: Parents; Sister, Elizabeth Lane; and Brother, Dana Merritt.
Survivors include Wife: Irene (Hatch) Merritt ;Son and Daughter in Law: Nathan "Butch" and Alice Merritt;Brother: Delma Merritt; Grandchildren:Matthew J. Merritt, Aaron S. Merritt, Candace Merritt and Four Great-Grandchildren.

Irene (Hatch) Merritt, age 101 passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Dardanelle Nursing Home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Yell County, Arkansas on October 4, 1910 to her parents A.C. and Addie Mae (Bogan) Hatch. She worked building fighter planes during WWII and was a homemaker when she started her family. She was a long time volunteer for the American Legion, VFW and DAV and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paris.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Addie Hatch, her husband Nathan Denver Merritt, three sisters Lila Hamilton, Opha Sumner and Viva Johnson, three brothers Ermon Hatch, Lonnie Hatch and Quention Hatch.

Irene is survived by her son Nathan Butch Merritt and wife Alice J. of Brighton, Tennessee, one sister Grace McClure of Dardanelle, Arkansas, three grandchildren Matthew J. Merrit of Chalmette, Lousianna, Aaron S. Merritt of Oakland, California and Candace D. Merritt of Fort Smith, Arkansas and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
