M. Morio Pennington 93, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Morio was born to James Henry and Mary Ann Wilson Wingfield in Magazine, AR. Morio is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Van C. Pennington; stepson, Van E. Pennington; stepdaughter, Frances Pennington Pierce; granddaughter, Deborah Pierce; grandson, Steven Pierce; brother, James Curtis Wingfield; four sisters, Evie Wingfield Brewster, Bessie Wingfield Marshall, Ellie Wingfield Johnson and Lorene Wingfield Lloyd.

A longtime resident of Parkstone Place in North Little Rock, she was up early to dress fashionably for the day with every hair in place and make-up properly applied. One granddaughter often said, "You can go see Momo anytime because she is always ready for company!"

Prior to moving to North Little Rock, Morio lived in Paris, AR with her husband Van Pennington. Morio was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Magazine, AR and attended the First Baptist Church in Paris, AR with her husband and sons. She lived her life in very Christian manner.

She enjoyed living and working in Paris with her husband Van. Van was a licensed realtor and insurance broker. Because of Van's involvement with the Arkansas Electric Cooperative and interest and involvement with local and state politics, they traveled and made friends everywhere they went.

Morio worked many years. Her employment included time with Logan County Treasurer's Office, Logan County Sheriff and Tax Collector, City of Paris, and retail sales at the Koret in Paris. Her friends and family knew this was not a job in the true sense, but a very convenient way for her to know when ladies' fashions would be changing and it gave her the opportunity to "shop" and maintain an up-to-date wardrobe.

After graduating from High School in Magazine, AR, Morio moved to Paris to begin employment with AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Administration, former U.S. government agency established (1933) in the Dept. of Agriculture under the Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933 as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal program, where she met her future husband Van Pennington. Morio will be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by two sons, Wingfield J. (Clydine) Pennington and James K. ( Deborah) Pennington; seven grandsons, John (Debra) Lammers, Michael ( Violette) Pennington, Vann Christian (Jessica) Pennington, Christopher (Jennifer) Ringgold, Danny L. (Deborah) Stroud, Stuart Mitchell Stroud, and Michael (Melanie) Eldredge; five granddaughters, Martha Morio (Todd) Martin, Angela (Bill) Elizandro, Tina (Steve) Carrington, Jennifer (Marty) Cale and Theresa Ringgold; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400) 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd. North Little Rock, AR 72116.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, AR.
