*Obituary

Larry Dean McCord, 68, of Searcy, past away Friday, September 27, 2019 in Searcy. He was born in Inglewood, CA to the late James Ross McCord and Ola Lee Robison McCord.
Larry loved to drive a truck. It was his dream, his passion, and the only job he ever wanted. His truck driving career spanned almost 50 years. During that time, he logged millions of safe miles. He drove for
Wal-Mart for 33 years, was ranked as the #5 driver at Searcy, and was driver #87 in a fleet of over 7,000 drivers. While at Wal-Mart, he was awarded the 2 million mile safety award.
He was well known for his computer skills which he started developing in the late 1980’s. This became a life-long hobby, which he loved. He developed his knowledge in both hardware and software through long hours of self study, research, and plain dogged determination to solve problems. He spent countless hours fixing computers for fellow drivers, friends, and family while generally never asking for anything in return.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Glenda Cook McCord; by his two sons Meredith (Terre) McCord and Landon McCord; by his brothers Paul (Janice) McCord, Mark (Debbie) McCord, and sister Sharon (Rick) Newton; and by his grandchildren Brooke McCord, and Ashley (Gavin) Kennedy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 1st at First Assembly of God in Searcy.

Visitation is from 1:30-3:00 with the funeral service beginning at 3 o’clock, followed by internment at Weir Cemetery.
